When Dawn (Goddess) and I went to the Maasai Mara last weekend we were met with a very high river. Our driver William, who works for 1920’s Cottars camp, had to go to three different crossing spots before we found a place that was semi safe to cross.
Now please understand us Kenyans are very resourceful individuals, and 99.9% of the time we come prepared for anything. In this case we knew it had been raining heavily in the Mara, so first thought ‘BRING DRINKS’ of course this thought is to ensure our pleasures in case we get stuck!
The picture below is of Dawn (Goddess) with our ingenious safari wine glass. First, you must always take a bottle of water when ever traveling; to quench ones thirst, or to ensure you don’t get dehydrated if you break down and need to spend the night in your vehicle. Second, you must always travel with your Leatherman knife, this ensures you being able to do a multitude of things, For instance, when you have finished drinking your water you can cut the bottle with your Leatherman and poor your sweet wine while you sit back and enjoy the view.
