My name is Shea and your book inspired me to do my eighth grade research project on the controversial topic of “the unethical treatment of animals in entertainment”. These are the questions I would ask you if you would accept an interview with me, either by email or phone.
What do you think constitutes mistreatment of animals?
What do have to say, in general, of the unethical treatment of animals entertainment?
Do you believe that mistreatment is happening in entertainment?
What happened to animals when they are not in use?
What happened to animals while they were used in television, movies, etc.?

When I was in fourth grade, in a new school and not adjusting well back in 1984, my new teacher talked to my old teacher and learned three things – I loved animals and books and art. She gave me a copy of your mother’s book, The Gentle Jungle. I read it over and over, and laughed and cried and felt so much joy that a child could be raised in such a wonderful environment. I still have the book. It’s a bit tattered 
Anyway, a friend of mine does small animal rescue (dogs and cats mostly), and was thinking of writing a book. That made me think of the Helfer family and start googling. I’m glad to have found your blog
